Celebration Event, 30th March

Volunteering
Our 'V Volunteering' project sadly came to an end on 31st March 2011.
We held a celebration event at Walkers Stadium on 30th March, to say thank you to all our volunteers that have particpated in the project over the last 3 years and gave out some awards!
Over the 3 years we;
- Worked with over 250 volunteers
- Achieved over 14,500 volunteering hours
- Worked with 37 full time volunteers
The project has been a huge success and many of our volunteers have gone on to further education to pursue careers in education and some are now fully qualified teachers.
Anisha Lad, Age 16 who has been volunteering for us said "Thank you for a wonderful summer volunteering. I must admit the first time I went to meet the Volunteer Manager I was nervous about becoming a volunteer but I can honestly say that volunteering has truely had a positive effect on my time. All the courses e.g. emergency first aid at work and mentoring have taught me so many different skills and I have become a mentor at my college to pupils in year 8. Volunteering in general has really helped my confidence! Before, found it very difficult to talk to new people but now I have found it comes far more natually. Volunteering with Lighthouse Learning has really helped me. Thank you so much! I have made so many new friends and had so many experiences!"
